A walking tour of Geordie culinary delights...
Newcastle is a vibrant city on the banks of the river Tyne, with a population of over 300,000 and an internationally renowned University, home to 23,000 students. This city has the largest population in the North East and it is the 8th most populous city in England and so has a few mouths to feed! With an industrial heritage Newcastle was all about wholesome hearty simple food. In more recent times it has been famed for it’s nightlife and very cheap and cheerful restaurants and bars. Today Newcastle boasts an eclectic mix of food in an ever growing selection of restaurants.
Scran aims to give visitors to the city a culinary journey through a spectrum of eateries and a taste of what the region has to offer. This is a city centre walking tour of around 3-4 hours duration. During the tour we will stop at several locations, including a Victorian Market and a Medieval Monastery, starting in the City centre and ending on the Quayside.
Your tour guide will be a North East local and part of our foodie crew, all of whom take tour groups as a hobby because of their enthusiasm for all things Geordie and love of food. Along with explanations of the food you will be trying, we will endeavour to point out some points of local interest and are happy to provide advice on things to do, and more importantly more places to eat during your stay in Newcastle.
